Louise Café de la Forge Plestin-les-Grèves cotes d'Armor Bretagne

La Forge : a place steeped in history and emotion

Imagine a place where laughter and bursts of voices have been echoing since 1945, when the café opened.

The café at La Forge was originally run by Louise, a key figure in the village. The café and grocery shop was much more than a simple establishment: it was a meeting place, a rallying point, a place to exchange ideas and a place to live, particularly with the Pardon of St Jagut, which every year brought together more than 200 people and where pigs were roasted for everyone to enjoy.
With its grocery shop, bar and petrol station, Louise saw a lot of people come and go, from regulars to friends passing through, from the biggest to the smallest.
Here's a little anecdote : the plumber who started the work with us - and who has since taken his well-deserved retirement - used to come in on his moped for a drink and a fill-up. That's the spirit of the place : a mix of work, conviviality and a little nostalgia in every corner.

During the summer months, Louise welcomed families to board for the holidays, creating a friendly and lively atmosphere.

Another anecdote : for several years in a row, she hosted a family from Nancy in Lorraine. Apparently, they couldn't resist the legendary Breton welcome!

La Forge, once the beating heart of Plestin-les-Grèves, was a witness to generations of memories.

Then, in 2010, the doors closed and the building slowly fell asleep... Until today, when it is awakening again, ready to write new adventures.
